This memorial is for my Uncle Sam.

Samuel (Sam) Joel Munyon of Glendale, Oregon died the evening of August 31, 2009. He had gone on an evening walk from his home to the bridge in Glendale where he had a fatal heart attack.

Sam was the 7th child born to the late Thomas S. and Ruth Amelia (Smith) Munyon. He was raised and educated in Glendale, Oregon. He played on the Glendale High School Basketball team. Sam worked at numerous sawmills throughout Douglas County to include Robert Dollar in Glendale.

Sam married Jacqualine (Jackie) Behrens on February 14, 1969 in Canyonville, Oregon. The couple had 3 children together: Larry, Gregg, and Laurie.

Sam's hobbies included cars and fishing. One of his favorite cars was the Chevy Camaro. He enjoyed going to Seven Feathers, and on weekend outings. He loved visiting with family and friends. Sam had a wonderful smile. He was a loved uncle by his nieces and nephews and has left them with many fond memories, such as, kick the can, and one potato, two potato, etc.

Sam is survived by his wife of 40 years Jackie; two sons, Larry and Gregg Munyon of Glendale; daughter, Laurie Munyon of Glendale; sister, Nancy Hatton and husband John of Myrtle Creek; two brothers, Wade Munyon and wife Paula of Roseburg, and Thomas Munyon and wife Mary Lou of Coos Bay; 7 grandchildren. Numerous nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents Sam was preceded in death by two brothers, Jeddy Munyon, and Raymond Munyon; two sisters, Gladys McManus and Anna Mae Munyon Dancer.

In closing, I will end this memorial with Sam's favorite saying - "Above all you have a good day now."
