New Hampshire Governor. Born in Vermont, he was Governor from 1893 to 1895. His popularity with labor and the Republican Party contributed to his vote landslide. He had served on the Governor's Council from 1887 to 1889. He returned to the family business, Contoocook Mills Company, when he retired. A prominent freemason, he died in Hillsborough County.
