Sgt Herbert Willard Keller was born in Witt, Illinois but spent most of his life in Du Quoin and Dowell. He died from wounds received during maneuvers at Camp Livingston, Louisiana, a WWII training camp. His funeral was held at First Baptist Church and he was buried at Sunset Memorial Cemetery in Du Quoin. Sgt Keller married Juanita Miller Keller of Madison, Indiana in 1941 and they had a young daughter. His parents were Bernard and May Keller (who passed away in 1931) and stepmother Lillian Keller. His name is inscribed on the Keyes Park Memorial in DuQuoin, Illinois.
