Our community was saddened yesterday morning, November 18, 1896, by the announcement of the death of William Harvey Barb, Esq., which occurred at his home on Morris street, about 4 a.m.

Mr. Barb was born in Monongalia county, W. Va., Sept. 28, 1850, being a son of Gideon and Sarah W. Barb. Afterwards his parents removed to Mapletown, this county. At the age of 18 he began teaching and by his own efforts obtained an education in Waynesburg College. He studied law in the offices of Wyly & Buchanan and Donley Inghram, this place, being admitted to the Waynesburg bar in October, 1877.

Mr. Barb was married May 9, 1877, to Miss Buena Vista, daughter of County commissioner P. A. Myers. Mrs. Barb and two sons, J. A. and Frank, survive. He also leaves four brothers and one sister, L. S. Barb, of Allegheny, G. M. of Whiteley, H. K. and John W. Barb, and Mrs. F. E. Donham of Mapletown.
