Major League Baseball Player. He was a second baseman for three teams in ten years in the major leagues. For his first seven years he played with the Pittsburgh Pirates (1933-40). He played a year with the Cincinnati Reds (1941) and finished with the St. Louis Cardinals (1941, 1945). During his career he batted a modest .262 with 32 home runs and 347 runs batted in. He had his best year in 1938 when he was fourteenth in voting for the National League Most Valuable Player.
