END COMES IN PARIS HOME AFTER LONG ILLNESS

Mrs. Agnes Dolph Nixon, Well Known Here and Abroad, Native of Oregon

Mrs. Agnes Dolph Nixon, formerly well known and popular in Portland society, died Sunday in Paris after being paralyzed and unconscious three months, according to word received here yesterday by friends and relatives. The funeral will be held in Paris tomorrow.

Mrs. Nixon was born in Portland January 3, 1866, the daughter of Untied States Senator and Mrs. Joseph N. Dolph. She received her education at Central public school, St. Helen’s hall and the Mrs. Syvanus Reed school in New York city.

As a girl at Central school Mrs. Nixon was chosen because of her beauty to present a bouquet to General Grant upon his visit to Portland, at which time he was a guest at the Dolph home.

Mrs. Nixon later became prominent in Washington society and was married there at a brilliant wedding May 25, 1887, to Richard Nixon. They later came to Portland, where Mr. Nixon became a partner in the law firm of Dolph, Nixon & Dolph, and made their home on Mount Tabor at the head of Hawthorne avenue. Of late years Mr. and Mrs. Nixon have been living in Washington and Paris.

In addition to her widower, Mrs. Nixon is survived by three brothers, Chester V. Dolph and Colonel Cyrus A. Dolph of Portland and Henry V. Dolph, and a sister, Ruth Dolph Collette of Los Angeles. Another brother, Marion F. Dolph died here in 1922.

PARIS, Jan. 23. The funeral services for Mrs. Richard Nixon, daughter of the late Senator Dolph of Oregon, will be held Wednesday afternoon in the American cathedral of the Holy Trinity.
