Wandergold Amanda Gifford was born on July 08, 1907 to Clarence Elmer Gifford and Jennie Lynn Carroll Gifford in West Virginia. I've always heard that a Native American woman delivered Wandergold with the understanding that she could name her and that is how she got her first name. Her middle name was from her maternal grandmother, Amanda Simmons Carroll. Wandergold grew up in Huntington, Cabell County, West Virginia. She met William Elza Bias and they married in 1926. They were blessed with two daughters, Nancy Lou and Janice Lee. Wandergold was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She was always pulling practical jokes on her family. She is greatly missed by her family. She died, several months after her beloved husband, William Elza, on July 23, 1983.
