Rev. Benjamin H. Carryer was born in Leicester, England in 1823 and at the age of 15 commenced preaching. About 1842 he emigrated to Canada and was subsequently ordained a minister of the Baptist Church. In 1860 or 1861 he came to Richburg and was pastor of the First-Day Baptist Church for four years. His next pastorate was at Friendship, later he was at Almond where he died in 1877. His 1st wife was Elizabeth Scott, she died in 1855 and he then married Harriet Smith.
