JOHNSON - George S. Johnson, 79, a resident of Albuquerque since 1932, passed away in a local hospital on Wednesday. He is survived by one daughter, Judy Shepherd, and husband Edward, of Albuquerque; three grandchildren, Susan Whalen, and husband Timothy, Edward W. Shepherd, and wife Denise, and Amy Shepherd Tapia, and husband Gerald, all of Albuquerque; and three great-grandchildren, Kevin and Ryan Whalen, and Justin Shepherd, all of Albuquerque. He was a member of the Rotary Club, the Albuquerque Country Club, and a life member of the New Mexico Professional Engineer. Funeral services will be held Saturday at 11:00 a.m. in the Palm Chapel of Strong-Thorne, 1100 Coal S.E., with Dr. Harry Vanderpool, officiating. Interment will be in Fairview Memorial Park. The family request in lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Salvation Army, 501 Broadway S.E. 87102, or to the New Mexico Heart Association, 629 Truman N.E. 87110.
