Mary (May or Maria) Beatrice Hautau was the daughter of Henry Hautau and Emma Stephani. Early on her name was Maria and later she went by May. In 1900, May was a bookkeeper. Her gravetone lists Mary B Horn.

Maria Hautau was born "29" Sep 1881 in Chicago, Illinois to parents Henry Hautau and Emma Steffans (sic). FS Chicago Birth Index.

On 18 May 1898, she married Joseph Nicholas Maurer in Monroe, MI.

Chicago Daily Tribune, 7 Oct 1906, page 3, Mrs. E. Hautau, 906 (?) West Monroe street, announces the engagement of her daughter, May Beatrice, to Mr. Edward Horn of Lynn, Mass. At home informally on Sunday, Oct. 14

She married Edward Otto Horn on 1 Jan 1907 in Chicago, with Rev. John R. Strator officiating. The were licensed to marry the same day.

On the 1910 Chicago Ward 13, Cook Co., IL census, I found Edward O Horn, 30, married 3 years to wife MAY B, 28, she had 2 kids, both living; son or daughter: Edward O, Jr., 2 and Kathalyn M, 10/12. They were all born in IL, except for Edward, Jr, born in Massachusetts.

On the 1920 Lyons, Cook Co., IL census, I found electrical contractor Edward O Horn, 40; wife MARY B, 38; sons or daughter: Edward O, Jr., 12; Donald R, 6; Doris B, 6 and Gilbert A, 4, all Illinois born, except for Edward, Jr., born in MA. Edward's parents were born in Germany.

Her son Donald R Horn, 26, married Ruth Renata Bell, 26, on 12 Aug 1939 in Cook Co., IL (FS). The following year, on 28 Sep 1940, her son Gilbert A Horn, age 24, married Jane Cushing, age 21, in Cook Co., IL (FS).

Edward and May, met at a church social in Chicago. They celebrated their golden 50th anniversary at a Jefferson Park Congregation Church reception, on 1 Jan 1957 (See photo).

Her obituary was in the 10 Jun 1957 issue of the Chicago Tribune: Mary B. Horn, nee Hautau, of 5528 Berteau avenue, June 7, 1957, born Sept. 30, 1881, beloved wife of Edward O. Sr.; mother of Edward O. Jr., Doris B. Anderson, Donald R., and Gilbert A.; 10 grandchildren; fond sister of Emma Hersberger and Carl Hautau. Resting at chapel, 4553 Milwaukee avenue, until noon June 10. Eastern Star services 8 p.m Sunday. Lying in state at Jefferson Park Congregational church until time of service, 2 p.m. Monday. Her Cook Co., IL Death Certificate lists all the data covered above, but adds Alfred as the middle name of her father, Henry. The informant was Inga H Barnes.

There is a photo of her from about 1924 on her mother, Emma Stephani Hautau's site (see her bio to identify her). Reunion of sorts includes Hautaus, Llewellyns and Horns.
