Funeral services for William Fonday Wallace, 77, who died Thursday at the Soldiers' Home in Danville, will be held this afternoon at the home of his niece, Mrs. Walter Patteson. Interment will made in the family lot in Oak Ridge cemetery.

Decedent was a son of Dr. William S. Wallace and Frances J. (Todd) Wallace, his mother being a sister of Abraham Lincoln's wife Mary. His parents were prominent early residents of the city. He served during the Civil war as a member of Company I, Seventh Illinois Infantry, which was engaged in some of the important campaigns and battles of the war.

Mr. Wallace was born in Springfield and this city was always his home, although for the last twenty years he had resided at the Soldiers' home. He was the last surviving member of his immediate family, the only relatives being eight nephews and nieces. IL State Journal, Springfield, IL 7-21-1923
