Louise Conradine (Potthast) [Duesenberg] Hartz was born on January 10, 1840, to Johann Heinrich and Amalia Louisa Sophie (Kroos) Potthast of Talle, Germany.

In about 1860 she married Konrad Heinrich Ludwig Duesenberg of the nearby town of Kirchheide. Their children (with birth years) include: Conrad (1861), Henry (1863), Wilhelmina (1865), Lena (1870), Amelia (1873), Fred (1876), and August (1879). Konrad died in Germany in 1881, and in 1885 Conradine came to the US with her family and settled in rural Floyd County, Iowa, on a farm near that of her sister Amalia Sophie and husband August F. Daake.

In 1891 Conradine married a widower, Christian Hartz. Conradine is buried in a Duesenberg family plot in the Flood Creek Cemetery. Christian is buried in a plot in the Saint Charles Cemetery, also in Floyd County.
