Born in Ashland, June 23, 1935, he was a son of the late Daniel F. and Anne E. Kerrigan McCarthy.
He was a retired county employee and was also a former accountant for American Argo.
He was a member of St. Joseph Roman Catholic Church, Girardville.
Philip was an Air Force veteran and an avid Philadelphia Phillies fan.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Anna Meade McCarthy, in 2004; and a brother, Stephen McCarthy.
