Constable with the North West Mounted Police (NWMP).


N.W.M.P, Sergeant Richard Elemes (Dick) Steele.
Together with two of his brothers they were engaged in the N.W.M.P. on Nov. 3, 1873, at Lower Fort Garry. Steele served as a Constable and Sergeant, he was discharge at Fort Saskatchewan "D" division. He died at Cochin, Saskatchewan on July 16, 1926. He was buried at Battleford, Saskatchewan in the Police Cemetery. A government grant was made to cover cost of funeral expanses.
Richard's two brothers, Godfrey MacNiel (SF-18A) and Samuel B. (0-40) were engaged in N.W.M.P. at the same time Steel was.
