Miss Kathleen W. Stack, 81, of 118 S. Engles died Wednesday at a local hospital.
Services will be Saturday at 10 a.m. at St Mary's Cathedral. The Rev Robert Foster will officiate. Burial will be in St Mary's Cemetery at Wood River.
Visitation will be Friday from 4-8 p.m. at Livingston-Sondermann Funeral Home with a rosary at 7:30. Memorials are suggested to the St. Francis Hospital Education Fund.
Miss Stack was born Aug. 5, 1900, at Harvard, the daughter of James and Katherine Lynch Stack. She grew up in the Shelton area and received her education at Immaculate Conception Academy in Hastings. She was a 1925 graduate of St. Francis School of Nursing in Grand Island.
After doing some private duty and floor duty nursing, she was director of the Owensboro-Daview County Hospital School of Nursing in Owensboro, Ky. While in this position she received a bachelor's degree from Colorado College in Greeley in 1939. She then went to South Dakota where she was director of the St. Luke's Hospital School of Nursing for 5 years.
Miss Stack then returned to Grand Island where she was an instructor at the St. Francis School of Nursing. Taking a leave of absence, she received a master's degree from Catholic University in Washington, D.C., in 1957. At that time she became assistant director of the St Francis School of Nursing here, retiring in 1974.
