Our loving husband, father, grandfather passed away April, 1997. He was born June 24, 1913 to Henry Luster Acord and Mary Ellen Allred in Spring City, Utah.

He graduated from North Sanpete High as Senior Class President in 1931. He attended Snow College from 1931-1933 where he was honored as a Distinguished Alumni in 1987. He graduated from USU in 1937. He earned his M.S. degree from the University of Illinois in 1955. In 1968 he received his PhD from the University of Kentucky in Animal Nutrition.

Clair worked for the USU Extension Service as a County Agent, and Livestock Specialist, improving the livestock industry through his hard work and devotion. upon retiring from Extension in 1978, dad assumed the position of Executive Secretary for the Utah Woolgrowers Association, a position he held until 1990. Upon retiring, dad assumed the position of Federal mediator for the USDA. For his work in Extension, he was honored with the Utah Land Grant Hall of Fame Award in 1993. For his work with the woolgrowers, he was honored with the National Camp Tenders Award by the National Woolgrowers in 1986. Throughout his life he worked with many community service organizations. For this he received numerous awards for his efforts.

He served as a faithful member of the LDS Church. Serving in many positions with equal faith and devotion.

He is survived by his loving wife Idona, his three children: Newell (Pam); Reid (Nancy) ; Janeen (Paul) Kelly; his 11 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held Tuesday, April 8, 1997 at 1 p.m. at the Lakeview 6th Ward Chapel, 155 West 1600 South, Orem, Utah. Friends may call at the Berg Mortuary of Provo, 185 East Center Street, Monday evening from 6-8 p.m. or Tuesday one hour prior to services.

Interment, Orem City Cemetery.
