John Willett "Bill" Blakemore of Coeur d'Alene, Idaho, passed away on Sunday, November 29, 2009. He was born July 9, 1920, in Salt Lake City, Utah, to John Samuel Blakemore and Hazel Kerr.

Bill excelled in whatever he attempted. He was a star football player in high school and served as a PFC in the U.S. Marine Corps during WWII.

Bill built his career in high-rise construction working on many major projects in and around the California Bay Area. He eventually became superintendent for F.B. Lathrop and worked there until his retirement in 1977.

In 1975, he met Donna Loris Hagerman. They were married on September 20, 1976, in Reno, Nevada. Together they built two homes in Placer County, California, before retiring to Coeur d'Alene, Idaho, in 1992.

During his retirement in Coeur d'Alene, Bill was active in Habitat for Humanity; built woodworking items for, and contributed generously, to local children's charities. Always busy, he enjoyed woodcarving and model shipbuilding. Bill belonged to the 55 and older club; swam twice a week and enjoyed playing Tuesday night poker with a group of friends. A big fan of Pavarotti, he himself, had a beautiful opera voice.

Preceding him in death are his beloved wife, Donna, who passed away on August 18, 2006, his parents, his sister, Hazel and brother-in-law, Harold Mason.

Surviving him are his son, John; nephew, Kenneth Mason; step-son, Mike McNary and three grandchildren; brother-in law, Todd Hagerman, wife, Kathy and many nieces and nephews.

Private services will be held at a later date.
