Henry William was the son of Percy William and Clara Hinkley of 37 York Road, Northfleet and the brother of Christopher.

He was born on 14th January 1913 and baptised on 9th March 1913 at St Botolph's church, Northfleet.

He married Francis Lilian Handley at St Botolph's Church, Northfleet, on 25th September 1937. They lived at 27 York Road, Northfleet, where his wife, Frances, ran a corner shop on behalf of his mother, Clara, and later at Wallis Park, Northfleet.

He served with the Royal Engineers during WWII. After the war he worked as as a self employed taxi driver, as a coach driver for Springhead Garage, Northfleet and finally as a bus driver for Maidstone and District, Gravesend. He was an enthusiast for all types of steam engines, fairground organs, trains, cars etc.

He died suddenly of heart failure in Gravesend town centre and was cremated at Medway Crematorium.
