Mr. Clarence Alton Conerly, age 89, died Saturday at Heritage Inn Nursing Home. He was a native of Louisiana and has lived in Bulloch County since 1978. Mr. Conerly was a retired Master Sergeant from the U.S. Air Force. Mr. Conerly was a member of the New Hope United Methodist Church and was a member of the Leefield Fire Department. He was preceded in death by his wife, Carolyn Conerly.
Surviving are his step-daughter, Barbara Cook of Garland, Texas; his brother, R.E. Conerly of Florien, Louisiana; his sister, Ora Lee Petty of Florien, Louisiana; five grandchildren, Larry Cook, Karen Cook Davis, Keith Cook, Lynell Cook Mullinax, and David Cook; seven great grandchildren; a sister-in-law, Verna Knight; his nephew and niece, Vernon and Judy Knight of Brooklet.
Funeral services for Mr. Conerly will be held Tuesday at 10 a.m. in the Chapel of Hodges-Moore Funeral Home with Rev. Vance Riggins officiating.
Burial will be in Bulloch Memorial Gardens.
Active pallbearers will be Vernon Knight, David Tootle, Dean Denmark, Mat Denmark, J.P. Davis, and Larry Keen.
Honorary pallbearers will be members of the Leefield Fire Department, Terrance Nesmith, Carl Tomlin, and Billy Gunter.
Visitation will be held Monday from 6 until 8 p.m. at Hodges-Moore Funeral Home.
Hodges-Moore Funeral Home of Statesboro is in charge of the arrangements.
