John Fenton Chaplin was born June 23, 1878. He married Palmer P. McClelland Chaplin, and they had sixteen children (including three sets of twins), eleven of whom lived to adulthood. His wife survived him by more than thirty-one years. John died on October 24, 1938 at the age of 60. He is buried at Kettle Creek Southern Congregational Methodist Church Cemetery in Waycross, Ware County, Georgia.
