Sikeston - George Q. Dawes, 78 years old, of Sikeston, died Monday at his home.
He was born Oct. 13, 1915, in Kansas City, the son of George A. and Jessie McManus Dawes. He and Alice Sifferman were married Nov. 15, 1941, in Kansas City.
Mr. Dawes received a law degree from St. Louis University in 1952. He was an attorney in the legal department with District 10 of the Missouri Highway Department for 15 years. He was also prosecuting attorney of Iron County for 10 years.
He was a member of Missouri Bar Association, past president of Scott County Bar Association, served as judge advocate of American Legion of Missouri, and member of St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church. He served with the U.S. Army during World War II.
Survivors include his wife; three sisters, Lucille Dicanzio, Rosemary Bales and Adelia Spann.
Funeral service will be held Thursday at St. Francis Church. Burial will be in the Garden of Memories Cemetery at Sikeston.
