Adam Seifert

TROY - Adam Timothy Seifert, 20, of Troy died in a canoe accident on Lake Creek near Troy.

He was born March 29, 1980, in Libby to Jim and Jennifer Seifert. Adam grew up in Troy, attending Troy schools until graduating as class salutatorian in 1998. Most of his childhood was devoted to learning how to have fun in the great outdoors, sometimes whether he liked it or not. He was an avid backpacker, mountain biker and skier. Adam's interests were not limited to outdoor pursuits; he was a talented musician, spending many hours playing the guitar. Adam spent countless hours reading books and listening to music, and he was a gifted writer.

Following high school graduation, Adam attended the University of Montana on a forestry scholarship. Adam greatly enjoyed his time in Missoula, making friends and living college life to its fullest. While maintaining his multitude of other interests, Adam earned near-perfect grades and planned to finish his degree in engineering at Northern Arizona University.

Adam returned to Troy in the summers to work for the U.S. Forest Service. During his free time, he could be found with his many friends hiking, biking, camping and canoeing. Unfortunately, on June 1, 2000, Adam took his last canoe trip on Lake Creek near Troy. Most of all, Adam will be remembered for the good times he had with his friends and family.

He is survived by his mother and father, Jennifer and Jim Seifert of troy; brother Dan and his wife Erinn of Eureka, and brother Pete and wife Jeni of Flagstaff, Ariz.; his grandparents, Paul and Jean Seifert of Troy, and George and Betty Earle of Libby; as well as numerous aunts, uncles, cousins and friends who will miss Adam dearly.

Mass of the Resurrection will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Monday at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Libby with the Rev. Ray Hannigan as celebrant. Parish vigil services will be Sunday at 7 p.m. at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Troy.

The family suggests memorials to the Turner Mountain Ski Foundation or to the Lincoln County Library.

Arrangements are under the care of Nelson & Vial Funeral Home.
