He was the father of Les Paul. George was a Waukesha resident his whole life. He was a skilled mechanic and for many years operated a garage in Waukesha. He was one of the first three people in Wisconsin to own an automobile. He married Evelyn Stutz in 1906 and they had two sons, Les and Ralph. Ralph and George were the co-owners of the Club 400 in Waukesha which they ran after George retired from being a mechanic in 1936. George and Evelyn divorced by the 1930's his second wife was Mary Ann Liberty. He was a member of the Presbyterian church and the Waukesha Elks Lodge.
