Walter Irving Hautau was the son of Henry Heinrich Hautau and Emma Stephani. He is the twin brother of Alwin Hautau. Walter married Edna M. Albert on 1 June 1911 in Chicago and they had 3 children: Edith, Albert and Joyce.

1918: Walter Irving Hautau, born 14 Nov 1884 registered for the World War I draft in Chicago on 12 Sep 1918. He lists his wife Edna May and his employer M P Rutledge, a food distributor (see photo).

On the 1930 Chicago, Cook Co., Illinois census I found Walter Hautau, 46; wife Edna, 40; daughters or sons: Edith, 17; Albert, 15 and Joyce, 4, all Illinois born.

On the 1940 Chicago, Cook Co., Illinois census I found wholesale dairy products salesman, Walter I Houtan (sic), 54; wife Edna M Houtan (sic), 50 and daughter Joyce Houtan (sic), 14, all Illinois born.

25 May 1944, daughter Joyce Marjorie Hautau married Steve Zavodny in Cook Co., Illinois (Marriage #1814942, FS).

1947: Walter I Hautau was born 15 Nov 1884 in Chicago, Cook Co., Illinois to parents Henery Hautau and Emma Stephanni. He was the husband of Edna M Hautau, who was also the informant. He worked as a maintenance man. On 3 Jul 1947, he died in Chicago, IL. His address was 1451 Belle Plain Avenue. He was buried at Mt. Emblem Cemetery in Elmhurst, Illinois. Entry #20748.
