Captain Reuben Blanchard Cumberland farmer, built and owned farm on Greeley Road in Cumberland Maine
Son of Beza and Prudence Blanchard, he was eldest of twelve children
—Blanchard first left home and went to sea as a common sailor when he was eighteen years old. He was shipwrecked in the first vessel he commanded, The Union, and of the eleven on board, all were lost but himself and the mate. Soon after this, Blanchard retired from the sea, bought and built a farm, then married.
