Lt. Col. Cronin, Retired Veteran - Lt. Col. John Henry Cronin, USAF retired, died June 26 at Walter Reed Hospital, Washington, after an illness of eight months. Col. Cronin, 59, spent 36 years in the Army and AirForce. He enlisted in 1914 and retired in 1950.

After his retirement, Col. Cronin, a native of Salem, Mass., came to St. Petersburg where he and his wife, Gertrude, made their home at 631 40th Street South.

Col. Cronin served in the 1914 Mexican Border Campaign; in World War I with the 3rd Cavalry Regiment in France, and was an executive officer in the Medical Administrative Corps during World War II.

He was a member of the Roman Catholic Church; Army Navy Club, St. Petersburg, and the American Legion in Massachusetts.

Surviving, in addition to his wife, are two daughters, Mrs. Robert Scheller, Milwaukee, Wis., and Mrs. Robert Hinz, Springfield, Mass.; a son, Lt. John H. Cronin Jr., stationed with the Air Force in England, and eight grandchildren.

Interment was in Arlington National Cemetery, Arlington, Va.
