Edith Louise Harmon Lang was born at Fort Stevens, Clatsop County, Oregon. It is a facility that helped guard the mouth of the Columbia River until after World War Two. Part of it is now an Oregon State Park. Her parents were Col. Millard Fillmore Harmon, Sr. 1856-1922 and Madelin Kendig 1857-1947. Her parents had five children. They are Margaret , Kenneth Bailey, Gen. Millard Fillmore Harmon, Jr. and Hubert Reilly. Lt. Gen. Millard was head of all Army Air Forces in the Pacific in 1945. His plane was lost at sea in a routine flight between bases and was never found.
