Army Officer Dead

Lawton, Okla., Dec. 7—First Lieut. Everett C. Meriwether, 32, of Fayetteville, Ark., died today in the Fort Sill hospital from a non-epidemic type of meningitis. The young officer was a West Point graduate.

First Lieut. Everett C. Meriwether will be buried at Arlington Cemetery with military honors at 10:30 a.m. tomorrow.

Lieut. Meriwether, who died at Fort Sill, Okla., was aide de camp to Brig. Gen. William M. Cruickshank.

Lt. E. C. Meriwether Buried In Arlington

The body of Lieut. Everett Clement Meriwether, aid to the commandant of the United States Field Artillery School at Fort Sill, Ok., was brought to St. Louis Sunday on the way to Arlington Cemetery, where the funeral services were held yesterday.

Lieut. Meriwether's mother, Mrs. Emma Meriwether of Fayetteville, Ark., widow of E. G. Meriwether, for years a practicing attorney of Alton, Ill., accompanied the body to Arlington. With her was her son, Prof. Edward B. Meriwether of the law school of the Arkansas State University.

Lieut. Meriwether is survived by his mother, brother, two sisters; an aunt, Miss Mabel Clement of the administrative staff of Lindenwood College; and an uncle, George Clement of St. Louis. His death occurred Thursday, from spinal meningitis. He was 32 and was a native of Alton. He was graduated from West Point in the class of 1925. (sic - 1923)
