Maurice arrived in Vietnam 5 December 1967 and was assigned to B Company, 4th Battalion, 3rd Infantry, 11th Infantry Brigade, Americal Division, USARV. The battalion was participating in Operation Muscatine when the company encountered hostile forces 20 kilometers east southeast of the Binh Son Airfield. Maurice died as a result of multiple fragmentation wounds to the body when a hostile mine was detonated during the fighting.
Survived by his wife, Charlotte E Williams and a son in c/o Mr. & Mrs. Willie Williams of 707 W Broadway St, Ocala, Florida.
