Anchorage resident Norma Lucille Montgomery, 80, died June 12, 2009, at Providence Alaska Medical Center. A funeral was held at Anchorage First Free Methodist Church with the Rev. Beth Armstrong officiating. Interment was in Fort Richardson National Cemetery alongside her husband. The family received friends until the time of the service at the church.

She was born on April 23, 1929, in Lime Ridge, Wis., to Reinhold and Emma (Gudenschwager) Krueger. Norma was a graduate of Reedsburg High School and Sauk County Normal School, both in Wisconsin. She taught in rural schools until her marriage to Lyle "Mike" Montgomery in 1950. They moved to Alaska in October 1969 with their four children to enjoy the fishing and hunting opportunities Alaska offered. Norma loved children and worked many years at Wonder Park School and Anchorage Head Start. Norma attended Anchorage First Free Methodist Church and was a member of the Ladies' Bible Study. She enjoyed crafts, cooking, gardening in her flower beds, watching the Packers win, and getting out with her friends.

She is survived by her son, Donald Montgomery of Anchorage; daughter, Susan (Randy) Edgin of Palmer; two grandchildren, Krystal (Chad) Breeden and Jennifer Edgin of Palmer; great-granddaughter, Kylie; and many nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her husband, Mike; son, Steve Montgomery; daughter, Diane Montgomery; sisters, Lorraine Meyer and Viola Baumgarten; and brother, Phillip Krueger.
