Hattie/Hettie was the daughter of Baron DeKalb & Caroline "Carrie" Jane (Prichard) Stansell.
Her parents moved their family from Cobb Co, GA around 1885, Cisco being their final destination. This would have been when Hettie was around 11 years old. It was here that she grew to adulthood.
She married John Crockett Thurman, a farmer, in Cisco, TX on December 21, 1890. John was 30 years old, & Hettie was 15.
They had 10 children: Edward F., Wayne D., Josephine, Emmett O., Willard, Harvey, Ethyl E., Floyd, James Calvin, & Robert Lee.
They lived in Eastland County the rest of their lives. As did her parents, sisters, Lizzie and Ida, & her brother, James.
John died from heart trouble in June 1931. Hettie lived almost 26 years after his death. She was a patient in Graham Hospital when she died from a Cerebral Hemorrhage at 6:30 p.m. on April 1, 1957. She had lived 83 years, 1 month, & 3 days.
Her daughter, Ethel, was the informant on her death certificate.
Hettie was buried the following day.
