BLUE HILL - Ethel Schmidt, 90, of Blue Hill died Thursday in the Bethesda Care Center in Blue Hill.

Services will be at 2 pm Saturday in the Trinity Lutheran Church in Blue Hill with the Rev Joseph Jones officiating. Burial will be in the Blue Hill Cemetery.

Mrs Schmidt was born in Craig, MO, June 7, 1897. She graduated from Guide Rock High School in 1915 and taught in a rural Guide Rock School for one year.

She married Curtis R Wallace Oct 24, 1916 in Burr Oak, Kan. They moved to Guide Rock from Bladen in 1919 and to Blue Hill in 1928. He died July 9, 1933.

She moved to Hastings in 1938 where she was a cook at Mary Lanning Memorial Hospital until 1942. She married Carl Schmidt Aug 29, 1942. He died in October 1966. She moved to Blue Hill in August 1968.

She was a member of the Trinity Lutheran Church and Ladies Aid and the American Legion Auxiliary.

Survivors are one son, Harold Wallace of Huntington, Conn; three daughters, Mrs Clarence (Irene) Muhliesen of Blue Hill, Mrs Ed (Zelma) Hinrichs of Harvard and Evelyn Bach of Clifton Park, N Y; two stepsons, Glenn of Caldwell, Idaho and Leonard of Hastings; three stepdaughters, Mrs Wilmer (Christina) Hansen of Minden, Lorena of Colville, Wash and Mrs John (Darlene) Waddell of Henderson, Nev.; one sister, Anna Phillips of Denver; 15 grandchildren; 16 stepgrandchildren; 26 stepgrandchildren; 26 great-grandchildren; 16 step great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.

Memorials may be given to the Trinity Lutheran Church.
