Effie Mae Carpenter Guinn - age 83 of Lenoir City passed away Tuesday, March 23, 2010 at the Loudon Healthcare Center.

She was born in McMinn County in 1926 and was Valedictorian at McMinn County High School in 1944. Effie was a very active member of Trinity United Methodist Church and the United Methodist Women. She was also a member of the Girl Scouts and the Hickory Creek Community Club.

Preceded in death by her husband, Emerson Hubert Guinn; parents, John Carpenter and Annie Simpson Carpenter; infant son, Joseph Carl Guinn; brothers, Bill Carpenter and Henry Carpenter; sisters, Emma Carpenter Stair and Rhoda Carpenter Shults.

Effie is survived by her daughters, Sandra Guinn of Lenoir City and Virginia Sue (Gina) Guinn Head of Indianapolis, Indiana; 3 grandchildren, Katy, Amy and Jason Head; 1 great granddaughter, Sydney Victoria Green; along with 5 nieces and 1 nephew.

The family would like to express a special thank you to present and former staff of River Oaks Place, Lenoir City, River Oaks Place, Loudon and Loudon Healthcare Center, especially station 1, and Amedisys Hospice for their wonderful care and support.

The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday, March 25th at Trinity United Methodist Church. Funeral services will follow at 8 p.m. with Reverend Kim Isley officiating. Family and friends will gather at 2 p.m. Friday, March 26th at Tranquility United Methodist Church Cemetery in McMinn County for graveside services.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Trinity United Methodist Church, P. O. Box 606, Lenoir City, TN 37771 or the charity of your choice.
