Birth: Sep. 21, 1851
County Dublin, Ireland
Death: Jul. 13, 1935
Albany County
New York, USA

Charlotte was born in Dublin, Ireland, and was baptized at St. Mary's Church in Maynooth, County Kildare at the age of 3 days. Her father, William, was a seaman, who drowned at sea prior to her birth. Her mother Catherine remarried to Garrett O'Shaughnessy, a member of the IRB. Garrett and Catherine had a daughter Mary, who was born in February, 1859. The family made a hasty exit from Ireland in the early 1860's (possibly 1862) due to some trouble Garrett got into as a result of his membership in the IRB. They emigrated to NYC. There, on August 21, 1875, at the Church of the Epiphany Charlotte married James Adam Mackey, a Civil War Veteran (4th NY Heavy Art. Co. B), who was born in 1839 in Schoharie County, NY. They lived in NYC and had five children: Frank Forrester (1878), Mary Charlotte "Mayme" (1880), Alice L.(1880-1880), my grandmother Catherine Georgina 1883), and James Governor (1887). In the early 1890's the family moved back to Mackey's Corners in Schoharie and took over James' father's farm. James died there (in the same bed he was born in) on 6/1/1909. Shortly afterward, Charlotte and her two daughters, Catherine and Mary, moved to Albany, NY. On February 1, 1911, Catherine married Dr. Irving Hill Losee, DDS. Mary died of the flu epidemic of 1918 in Albany. Charlotte lived with Catherine and her family in Albany on Ten Broeck Street, across from St. Joseph's Church, where she was a communicant, until she died in 1935. Charlotte was known to be a very good pianist, and seamstress, who often embroidered linens for the Church altar.
