Abraham James Bowers, Sr. was the son of Abraham Bowers and Johanna Agneta ("Nettie"/Annette) Jonsson (JOHNSON). He married Christena Sinclair on Aug 28, 1884. They had fourteen children, all who lived to adulthood: Abraham James Jr., Margaret (Maggie), Matthew, Charles Henry, Harrison (Harry), Nettie, Maude, Gladys, Stewart Shirkey, Elsie Leone, Clarence Ira, Maylon Sinclair, Joey, and John Nelson. In addition, they also adopted and raised one of their granddaughters, Zelma.
