Funeral services were conducted Monday,for Robert C. (Bob) Meade, 43,of Paintsville,three days after he was found shot to death on a rural Johnson County road.
Kentucky State Police detective Keith Scott said that Meade was pronounced dead on arrival at Highlands Regional Hospital at approximately 7 a.m. Friday as a result of three gunshot wounds. Scott said that Meade, a supervisor for Kentucky West Virginia Gas Company,was fond beside his car on Davis Branch Road at approximately 6:45 a.m. Friday morning,fifteen minutes after he had left his Davis Branch home for work.
He was discovered by four coal company employees also enroute to work. No motive has yet been determined in the case,but detective Scott indicated that Meade's watch,billfold and rings were missing.
Meade graduated from Paintsville High School in 1953 where he was a member of the PHS basketball team. HE joined the Kentucky West Virginia Gas Company in 1955 as a regular laborer. According to Roger T. Daniel, personnel supervisor for the company, "Bob Meade was on of the most universally respected men in the company.He had a dynamic personality and made things happen." Meade was promoted to field foreman in 1965 and in 1967 moved to district supervisor.In 1971 he was promoted to assistant supervisor of production,the position he held at the time of his death.HE was also a member of Paintsville Masonic Lodge 357 F&AM.
Meade is survived by his wife, Esther Parsley Meade and one son, Bobby Meade, of Lexington.

Funeral services were conducted Monday with burial following in Highland Memorial Park at Staffordsville.

Mr. Meade was born March 23, 1935,in Johnson County, son of Cecil and Blanche VanHoose Meade.
He was a resident of Davis Branch Road, Paintsville, a supervisor for Kentucky West Virginia Gas Company and a member of Paintsville Masonic Lodge 357 F&AM.
Surviving are his wife, Esther Parsley Meade and one son, Bobby Meade,Lexington.

Funeral services were held Monday,February 5,in Jones-Preston Funeral Home Chapel with Dr. Charles Milam officiating.Masonic Lodge 357 F&AM held Masonic services.
Burial was in Highland in Highland Memorial Park at Staffordsville, with Jones-Preston Funeral Home handling arrangements.
Serving as pallbearers were Danny Pugh,Luther Conley,Paul Lemaster,Tom Daniel,Donald Chaffin,Robert Hall,Lafe Scott and Preston Nichols.
Honorary pallbearers were Darwin Reed,Billy James,Tom Harmond,Don Daniel,Larry Francis,John D. Webb,Garver Shepherd and Tom Hayes.
