Funeral services for Florence A. Belz, 78, of St. Ansgar, who died here on May 3, 1983, were held May 7 at Immanuel Lutheran church with the Rev. Norman Betke officiating.

Florence Anna Belz, daughter of Andrew E. and Ida (Groth) Belz, was born in Newburg township, Mitchell County, Iowa on January 24, 1905. She was baptized February 19, 1905 by the Rev. William Janzow at the home of her parents, and remained a lifelong and faithful member of the Immanuel Lutheran church here. She was confirmed May 25, 1919 by the Rev. Paul Brammer.

Miss Belz attended elementary country school and was a graduate of St. Ansgar high school. For many years she was a telephone operator here, and later was employed at the Good Samaritan Center here.

In past years she had been a member of the Immanuel Young Ladies Society; was a member of the local American Legion Auxilliary and Martha's Helper for the Esther Circle of Immanuel Lutheran church.

She was preceded in death by her parents, a sister, Elmora Rosel of St. Ansgar, and a brother, Walter of Davenport.

She is survived by one brother, Howard Belz of St. Ansgar.

Burial was in the Immanuel Lutheran Cemetery south of St. Ansgar, with Rev. Betke in charge of committal services.
