Walter F. "Butch" Riney, 71, of 1120 College, died at 11:15 a.m. Thursday (Aug. 11, 1988) in his home. Mr. Riney was born Dec. 16, 1916, in Clark County, Mo., a son of Frank and Edith Bicks Riney. He married Florine Pieper May 28, 1967, in Columbus. She survives. An operating engineer, Mr. Riney had been employed by both the Davis and Blicks construction firms in Quincy. He retired in 1982. Mr. Riney was a member of Operating Engineers Local 965. Survivors also include a son, Walter F. Riney Jr. of Hannibal, Mo.; two sisters, Mrs. Margaret Stewart of Wayland, Mo., and Mrs. Josephine Wade of Quincy; two grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. Mr. Riney was preceded in death by a brother, Louis. Services will be conducted at 1 p.m. Monday in the Duker and Haugh Funeral Home by the Rev. George Tomko. Burial will be in Greenmount Cemetery. Visitation will be from noon until time of services Monday in the funeral home. Memorials may be made to Blessing Foundation for Hospice or the Heart Association.
