Maton Hale Thompson was born to Isham Marion and Martha Wyatt Thompson. He was the sixth of eight children born in Carroll, AR. Isham brought his family into Indian Territory about 1892, settling around the Fawn and Eufaula area, then Choctaw Nation. Maton Hale married Maudie Lee Landrum in Tulsa, Tulsa, OK on the 13 December 1907. Their sons were Lawrence Leo, 1909; Markie Maton 30 Sep 1910, at Hanna, McIntosh County, OK. Third son Virdie Vallas 'Curly' was born 19 Jan 1912 at Kiefer, Creek, OK. Maton Hale was a teamster in the oil fields and farmed. Maudie died 18 Apr 1912 and is buried in the Twin Mounds Cemetery, Tulsa, OK. She left Maton to raise his three small sons. He built a box that could be attached to his implements and as he plowed the fields Lawrence and Markie rode back and forth with him...Curly went to stay with his Aunt Rosa Crabtree. Maton married Jessie Martin Goforth in Sapulpa, Creek, OK on the 4 Jul 1913. To this union two more children were born. Delbert Dale 1914 and Oma Odessa 1916. This couple was divorced in 1923, and Jessie took Odessa and returned to NE to her family. Delbert later also went to live in NE. Maton Hale married Willie 'Billo' Nimmo Bullard 6 Sep 1927. Maton Hale died 3 Dec 1937 in an Okmulgee Hospital after he attended a farm sale on Saturday and caught pneumonia. He is buried in the Beggs Cemetery in the lots next to Billo's parents and family.
