Grandson of Rocco and Antoinette Rosabet Spana D'Amato of Grumo, Appulo, Bari, Italy.

Son of Damiano and Elizabeth Rosato D'Amato.

Born in Toritto, Bari, Puglia, Italy; came to America at 6 mos. of age. Damiano and Elizabeth had 5 living children: Rocco D'Amato
Gerado (Gerald) D'Amato
Anthony (Tony) D'Amato
Constantine (Cus) D'Amato
Nicholas (Nick) D'Amato.

Rocco and Eva Klein Mc Intyre D'Amato had 4 children:

Geraldine (Geri) Elizabeth D'Amato
Donald Damiano D'Amato
Marion D'Amato
Carole D'Amato.
James Marion Mc Intyre, step-son.

A widower for 10 years married:
2]Arleigh (Ann) Ewald
3]Anna Hadley
4]Gladys Peck.

Rocco owned a truck repair business at Peck Slip and Pearl in Manhattan, N.Y. Most of his customers were truckers from the Fulton Fish Market.

He later was hired as a Foreman of Mechanics for the City of New York and retired at the mandatory age of 70.

Rocco worked hard to support his family of seven all through the Depression years.... Many of the truck owners paid Rocco in fish and seafood when they didn't have the cash to pay for his services.

His name, "Rocco D'Amato, Toritto, Bari, Italy" was inscribed on the Ellis Island Wall of Honor by his children for his birthday one year.

He was born on Flag Day, June 14th, so it was a special day for him. His arrival to the United States of America was delayed until his mother was strong enough to travel. She crossed the ocean with her 8 yr. old brother and Rocco, a 6 month old infant and arrived on Thanksgiving Day, another special day....

To you,Dad:
I give thanks
While there yet remains the
time for giving thanks-
That through you
I now live and know
The boundless joy
there is in living.
You left your native country
to start a new life,
And we, your descendants,
are humbly grateful.
I carry your name, your genes and heritage proudly.
Your loving daughter,
Geraldine (Geri) Elizabeth D'Amato Olbermann
