Ernest F. Baker, 61, of Canton died unexpectedly Sunday, May 31, 1981, at his home. Born Dec. 9, 1919 near St. Patrick, he was the son of James and Amy Riney Baker. He married Betty Schafer on Nov. 22, 1939 in Hannibal. He was a board member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Canton and was the Shaklee coordinator for the last four years. Survivors include his wife; two daughters, Mrs. Dave Bumpass of Tempe, Ariz., and Mrs. Gilbert Stovall of Libby, Mont.; a half-brother, J.R. Baker of Payson, Ill.; four grandchildren; and other relatives. He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother and a sister. Services were held Wednesday morning, June 3, at St. Joseph Catholic Church with Father Jerry Kaimann officiating. Music was furnished by Chuck Downs. Pallbearers were Bob Meyer, Warren R. Buckwalter, Lester Walker, Jim Reiter, Don Martin and Bob Otte. Burial was in Forest Grove Cemetery.
