Anthony (Tony) D'Amato was the grandson of Rocco and Antoinette Rosabet Spana D'Amato of Grumo Appulo, Bari, Italy.

Son of Damiano and Elizabeth Rosato D'Amato.
They had the following children:
Rocco D'Amato
Gerald D'Amato
Anthony (Tony) D'Amato
Constantine (Cus) D'Amato
Nicholas (Nick) D'Amato.

He was baptised in St. Clara's Church, West 36th St. according to Church records seen by cousin Nancy D'Amato DiGeorgio.

Tony and his brothers became interested in boxing when their Uncle Willie(Vito Nunzio Rosato), gave the boys two sets of boxing gloves and a punching bag one Christmas, and it created a life-long interest in boxing.

Anthony married Beatrice Stewart July 17, 1927.
They had 3 children:
Virginia (Gina) D'Amato
Elizabeth (Betty) D'Amato
Gerald Robert D'Amato.

Tony was gruff-voiced,but he had a gentle streak within, that was difficult to hide.

He and Bea enjoyed company and were the perfect host and hostess.

Tony was always seen with a pipe or cigar. He loved reading western novels and playing solitaire with his deck of well-worn cards....

He enjoyed boating and fishing on the Cauterskill Creek located in back of his property.
