Zopher Agee was one of 12 children born to John and Mary Elizabeth Thornton Agee. The family came from Missouri, to Gopher Valley, Yamhill Co, Oregon, then Douglas County, settling in Wilbur. The Thorntons and the Agee families have a well documented genealogy.

The siblings names were: Leetia (died young), Otto, Lucretia (Ellison), Theodocia (Leake), Emma M., John D., Owen, Ray, Roy, Kathryn (Stephens), and Bertha (Chapman).
