Frances Jean Hayes, 72, of Pleasant Plains, IL, passed away Wednesday, April 14, 2010, at her residence surrounded by her family and friends.
She was born October 23, 1937, in Springfield, the daughter of the late George and Catherine (Kern) Pickett. She married John L. "Jack" Hayes on Oct. 14, 1956, at Farmingdale Presbyterian Church; he preceded her in death on March 25, 2007.
Mrs. Hayes worked as a secretary at Farmingdale Elementary School for 27 years. She was a lifelong member of Farmingdale Presbyterian Church.
She is survived by 5 children, Max Hayes of Springfield, Kelly (husband, Perry) Kidd, Kris Hayes, Kolleen (husband, Mark) Yockey, and Kim Hayes, all of Pleasant Plains; 6 grandchildren, John Kidd (companion, Stephanie), Kaitlyn (husband, Matthew) Enoex, Bryanna Gardner, Chase Gardner, Lexie Yockey, and Michael Tucker; 3 great-grandchildren, Kaden Yockey, Matthew Enoex, and Jonathan Kidd. She is also survived by a sister, Nancy (husband, Pete) Guernsey of Pleasant Plains and a sister-in-law, Kathleen Hane of Panama City Beach, FL. Several nieces and nephews also survive.
She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband.
Arrangements are under the direction of Bisch Funeral Home West, 2931 S. Koke Mill Rd., Springfield, IL 62711, where visitation will be held on Sunday, April 18, 2010, from 2 to 6 pm. Funeral services will be held on Monday, April 19, 2010, at 11 a.m. at Farmingdale Presbyterian Church, Pleasant Plains, IL. Rev. Dr. Dave McDonna and Rev. Dave Nicholson will officiate. Burial will follow at Farmington Cemetery.
