Student, Ozark High School, 1860; served in Union Army, 1861-65; enlisting as pvt. 24th Mo. Inf.; promoted to capt. and maj. 8th Mo. Cav. Vols; A.B. Abingdon Ill. Coll., 1868; A. M. 1871 (LL.D. Bethany College, W. Va.). Removed to Quincy, Ill., 1871, and since Jan. 1874, in St. Louis. Author of several books and pamphlets.
