Joseph Hiriam Pickett was the son of Mark Pickett and Emma Rigsbee. He married Mary (Dermid)Cooper in 1906 and had three children:
• Claude Joseph Pickett
• Eva Lillian Pickett
• Mary Kathleen Pickett
After Mary's early death, he met and married Lesslie Latta in 1924. They had two sons:
• Jack Hackney Pickett
• Atlas Earl Pickett
Joseph lived his entire life in North Carolina where he worked for the Southern Pacific Rail Road as an engineer.
