Chief, Cherokee Nation West, 1879-1887;Natl.Council, 1871-1878. In 1848, he left for Colorado,and then journeyed to the California Gold Rush country, followed by brother Edw.W.,to become"San Andreas"goldminers and newspaper publishers, (Edw.W. was partner in the San Diego Union newspaper enterprise); Dennis Bushyhead returned in 1868 to take up Isaac Bushyhead's mercantile enterprises. He married Elizabeth Alabama Scrimsher; parents of Jesse C.; Mary E.(Triplett); Sarah C.; and Dennis W. Bushyhead, Jr. Married(2) Eloise Perry Butler. Born in Cherokee Nation, he was the son of Rev. Jesse & Eliza [Wilkerson] Bushyhead,and brother of Jennie; Daniel; Charlotte; Edward Wilkerson Bushyhead; Caroline (Quarles); Eliza M.; Jesse; & Nancy S.Bushyhead.
