Mr. Benentt was born in Napa, Calif., to Homer and Zelma (Brasheare) Bennett.
While still in high school he started working as a truck driver and, except for his time in the military service, cointinued to work for Consolidated Freight until he reitred in his early 80s.
He enlisted in the Army in March of 1941 and served with the 826th Amphibious Tractor Battalion. His unit saw action in the Philippines and New Guinea and he received numerous awards, including the Phillipines Liberation Medal with Bronze Star and Bronze Arrowhead.
At the time of his discharge, in 1945, he had attained the rating of sergeant.
Back home, he was delivering groceries in California when he met his future wife, Lucille. They were married on March 10, 1947, in Reno.
They lived in Susanville prior to his company relocating him in Klamath Falls in 1957. After his retirment, they moved to Keno.
His wife preceded him in death in May of 2000.
Mr. Bennett was a member of the Teamsters Union for more than 45 years. He loved the beach, animals, and working on cars.
Survivors include his daughters and sons-in-law Rebecca and Don Kinkade of Hiouchi, Calif., Barbara and Marvin Yunck aof Klamath Falls, and Phyllis and Jack Hayes of Keno; daughter, Billie Koger of Klamath Falls; son and daughter-in-law, Phillip and Barbara Bennet of Coburg, 13 grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren; borther and sister-in-law, Kenneth and Annie Bennett of Reno; sister Nerine Bennett of Wenatchee, Wash.
In addition to his wife, he was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Tammy, and a sister, Dorthea.
