Houston – David Wilburn Allen, 68, died April 20, 2000, of heart failure at North Mississippi Medical Center in Tupelo. Services were held April 21 at Houston Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Wayne Thorn and Rev. Kenneth Corley officiating. Burial was in the Boone's Chapel Cemetery in Okolona.
Mr. Allen was born in Chickasaw County February 16, 1932 to John Harvey and Lera Mae Gann Allen. He was a retired store owner, as well as a farmer and cattleman. He was preceded in death by two brothers, Elkin Allen and Marian Allen.
He is survived by his wife of 46 years, Mrs. Frances Corley Allen of Houston; two daughters, Mrs. Kaye Lancaster and husband, John, of Houston, and Mrs. Alice Dawson and husband, Michael, of Starkville; one sister, Marie Vance and husband, R E, of Houston; one brother, Oscar Allen and wife, Sue, of Houston; four grandchildren, Allen and Kimberly Lancaster, and Brad and Brittain Dawson; his caregiver, Jeannie Stutzman.
Pallbearers were his nephews and nephews-in-law. Honorary pallbearers were Jim Dick Nelson, Bud Materson, Mike Masterson, R E Vance, Bobby Carnathan, Gary Carnathan, and Robbie Carnathan.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Boone's Chapel United Methodist Church in Okolona.
