St. Peter -- Bernard A. Rome, 80, died on Wednesday, Jan. 30 at Trego County-Lemke Memorial Hospital, WaKenney. He was born Feb. 8, 1904 at St. Peter, to Peter P. and Veronica (Sander) Rome.

He married Clara Stroemel on Nov. 11, 1924. She died Nov. 12, 1933. He married Magdalena Kaiser on Oct. 17, 1938. She died Oct. 19, 1973.

He was a retired farmer. He was a member of the St. Anthony Catholic Church, St. Peter, and the Knights of Columbus.

Survivors include two sons, Charles, Westminster, Colo., and Sylvanus, St. Peter; four daughters, Albertina Wilson, Arvada, Colo., Mary Ann Rohleder, Morland, Vera Sybertson, Temple, Ariz., and Martha Rome, Denver; four brothers, Herman and Joe, both of Hoisington, Charles, Wichita, and Herbert, Shawnee Mission; four sisters, Anna Riedel, St. Peter, Sally Rohr, Quinter, Liddy Sea, Oakley, Adolphine Maher, of Florida; 19 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Monday in St. Anthony Catholic Church, St. Peter, with Bob Reif officiating; burial in the church cemetery. Rosary will be at 8 p.m. Sunday at the Knights of Columbus Hall, St. Peter. The Spencer Chapel, Hill City, is in charge of arrangements.
